The Canandaigua VA Medical Center, part of the VA Healthcare Network Upstate New York (VISN 2) provides a full range of patient care services, oversees research programs on veteran health issues, and educates and trains students interested in the medical profession.  It is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, 30 miles southeast of Rochester in Canandaigua, New York.  The VA medical center has provided inpatient and outpatient care to veterans living in upstate New York since 1933, and is host to numerous health care programs and services.  The Medical Center has been designated as a VA Center of Excellence for research and education of mental health issues.

VA seeks to competitively select a private developer to lease Building 14 and approximately 1.9 acres of associated land on campus, for a term of up to 75 years.  The property to be leased is located along the southern property boundary on East Street.  The proposed uses of the EUL site include:  transitional housing, single room occupancy housing, and/or family reintegration housing.  VA expects the majority of such housing to serve eligible veterans and their families on a priority basis.  The successful private developer(s) will develop, operate, and maintain the facilities and provide cash or in-kind consideration to VA for the fair market value of the leased assets as determined by the Secretary.
