As part of its Capital Asset Management Service (CAMS) Program, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking to more effectively assess and manage its real property assets. Many of VA’s medical campuses have underutilized property that may be converted to cash or in-kind services under its Enhanced-Use Lease (EUL) authority, allowing VA to build needed facilities to continue to deliver the highest quality of healthcare. VA Office of Asset Enterprise Management performed a comprehensive and systematic review of each of is real property assets and the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center was one of the sites selected by the Site Review Board for a site visit based on the results of a Phase I, initial Site Review Evaluation.
Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center (SRMVC) provides primary healthcare, nursing home care, and long-term rehabilitative care to eligible veterans. Located on a 78 acre site, SRMVC serves veterans in North Texas and southern Oklahoma, providing a full range of primary and geriatric care programs for the rapidly growing population of aging veterans.
SRMVC serves as an important teaching facility. Academic affiliations with Grayson County College and other training agreements encompass nursing, social work, dentistry and psychology. Cooperative relationships with providers in the area enhance more comprehensive services and accessibility for veterans. Facilities include:
