The VA Building Utilization Review and Repurposing (BURR) initiative has identified underutilized land and buildings at the VA Montana Health Care System, Fort Harrison VAMC Campus for a long-term ground lease in Rocky Mountain Network (VISN 19).  The VA Fort Harrison VAMC Campus is located in Fort Harrison, MT.  The campus consists of approximately 136 acres and 37 buildings.  The targeted Enhanced-Use Lease (EUL) sites on the VAMC campus consists of Building Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 35, 41, 42, and 2 acres of vacant land located along the north east perimeter of the campus north of the administration building (Building 141).  Access is provided just to the north of the main campus entrance.  Under the enhanced-use lease (EUL) proposal, underutilized property will be repurposed as housing for homeless Veterans and their families.

The potential EUL site contains the following parcel of underutilized land:

  • one parcel of approximately 2.0 acres of vacant land located along the north east perimeter of the campus north of the administration building (Building 141).  Access is provided just to the north of the main campus entrance.

The potential EUL site contains the following underutilized buildings which are proposed for repurposing:

  • Building Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 35, 41, 42

  • In an ongoing effort to eliminate homelessness among Veterans and their families, VA is proceeding with an agreement with a third-party provider to provide 100 permanent units of housing.
  • The Request for Proposal closed October 20, 2011.
