The VA Building Utilization Review and Repurposing Initiative (BURR) has identified approximately five (5) acres of vacant land at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital (Hines VAH) in Hines, Illinois for a long term ground lease. VA is soliciting qualified developers to submit proposals to finance, design, develop, construct, equip, furnish and maintain a new permanent supportive housing project for homeless Veterans and Veterans at risk of homelessness, on a priority basis.
Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital (VAH) offers primary, extended and specialty care, and serves as a tertiary care referral center for the VA Great Lakes Health Care System. Hines VAH is located 12 miles west of downtown Chicago on a 147-acre campus composed of 45 primary buildings totaling more than 3.2 million square feet.

- In an ongoing effort to eliminate homelessness among Veterans and their families, VA is proceeding with an agreement with a third-party provider to provide 120 permanent units of housing.
