The VA Building Utilization Review and Repurposing (BURR) initiative has identified underutilized land at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System — Menlo Park Division in a component of the Sierra Pacific Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 21) in Menlo Park, CA for a long-term ground lease. The VA Menlo Park Division is located in Menlo Park, CA. The Menlo Park Division consists of approximately 96.5 acres (and 45 buildings). Under the enhanced-use lease (EUL) proposal, underutilized property will be repurposed as housing for homeless Veterans.
The potential EUL site contains the following parcels of underutilized land:
- one parcel of approximately 1.9 acres of unimproved land. The property is on Willow Road, which allows the site to be accessed directly from a primary public street.

- In an ongoing effort to eliminate homelessness among Veterans and their families, VA is proceeding with an agreement with a third-party provider to provide 60 permanent units of housing.
- The Request for Proposals closed October 6, 2011.
- The Public Hearing was held July 28, 2011.
