The VA Building Utilization Review and Repurposing (BURR) initiative has identified underutilized land at the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System, Topeka Campus in Topeka, KS for a long-term ground lease. The campus consists of approximately 120 acres. The underutilized property consists of an approximate 7 acres. Under the enhanced-use lease (EUL) proposal, this underutilized parcel will be repurposed as permanent affordable housing for Veterans.
The potential EUL site contains the following parcel of underutilized land:
- one parcel of approximately 7 acres located on the southeast portion of the campus.
- The parcel is basically flat.
- Utilities connection are within close proximity to the site.
- The site has no known environmental issues.
News and Updates
- In an ongoing effort to eliminate homelessness among Veterans and their families, VA is proceeding with an agreement with a third-party provider to provide 72 permanent units of housing.
- The Request for Proposals closed October 27, 2011.
- The Public Hearing was held on August 11, 2011.
