Consolidated Patient Account Center
The Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) is one of several initiatives underway by the CBO to improve revenue collections in VHA. CPAC is an approved pilot to establish an industry-modeled regionalized billing and collection activity supported by remote intake, utilization review and customer service functions organizationally aligned with the consolidated center.
The pilot began on November 1, 2005, with the activation of the Mid-Atlantic CPAC in Asheville, North Carolina. Currently, only VISN 6 facilities are being served by the Mid-Atlantic CPAC. Through the pilot, VHA expects to demonstrate improved revenue performance, increased collections and ultimately establish consistent, nationally deployable business practices.
The pilot will occur in phases with evaluation of each phase before proceeding to the next. During Phase I the following will occur:
- Conversion of the VISN 6 Centralized Revenue Unit to the first CPAC.
- Testing of the new organizational structure. Addressing all operational areas contributing to the establishment and management of patient accounts and related billing and collection processes.
- Application of industry based performance measures.
