The Department of Veterans Affairs Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships (CFBNP) is inviting you and members of your organization to participate in our third Quarterly Conference Call for fiscal year 2013.

The purpose of our Quarterly Conference Call is to provide you, our ListServ members, with information about VA programs and services that will assist you in serving the needs of our Veterans, their families, survivors, and caregivers.  The Quarterly Conference Call also provides an opportunity for an interactive discussion among participants.

Agenda:

1:00 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. Welcome and Updates - Rev. E. Terri LaVelle, Director, Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships

1:15 p.m. -1:50 p.m. Guest speaker- Chaplains Michael McCoy and Keith Etheridge, Associate Directors, Department of Veterans Affairs National Chaplain Center (NCC), will present on the “Rural Clergy Training Program.”

The Rural Clergy Training Program is sponsored by the NCC and supported by a grant from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Rural Health (ORH).
ORH is improving access and quality of care to the 3.4 million Veterans that are enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System.  These Veterans are currently living in rural or highly rural areas of the country.  ORH mission is significant to Veterans and their families receiving the services that they need to assist them with reintegration to civilian life.

Chaplain McCoy and Chaplain Etheridge will provide significant  information on the collaboration between NCC and ORH mission, ORH program objectives and inform our members on how faith-based and community organizations can assist NCC  and ORH with serving rural Veterans.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of up to $5 million to fund 16 or more Homeless Female Veterans and Veterans with Families grants. Approximately 1,900 veterans will receive job training and related services to help them succeed in civilian careers.
Funds for the grants are being awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce boards, local public agencies and nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, and faith-based and community organizations. Grantees must be familiar with the areas and populations to be served, and have demonstrated that they can administer effective programs and coordinate their efforts with various local, state and federal social service providers. Homeless female veterans and veterans with families may receive occupational, classroom and on-the-job training, as well as job search and placement assistance, including follow-up services.
