  • Promote employees’ awareness of waste reduction.
  • Use lights with motion sensors where possible.

  • When purchasing new equipment, purchase ENERGY STAR.
  • Remove Styrofoam and non-recyclable food and beverage containers from canteens and cafeterias.
  • Move to making press releases paper-less.
  • Modify lighting systems so that they turn off at the end of the workday.
  • Use paper products that contain at least 30% recycled material.
  • Buy office supplies with at least 30% recycled content.
  • Use appropriate signs to identify smoking areas that are far away from air intakes.
  • Eliminate plastic bags from canteens and cafeterias.
  • Reduce travel by holding video conferences.
  • Provide bicycle racks, lockers and showers for bicycle commuters.
  • Put electricity meters in different departments and have competitions.
  • Implement zero water-use landscaping.
  • Implement composting projects at canteens and cafeterias.
  • Schedule meetings at forums served by public transportation. Include the train or bus directions in the meeting invitation.
