Scheduling, Changing or Canceling Appointments
If you are enrolled in VA health benefits, call your local facility to schedule an appointment. If you cannot keep an existing appointment, please contact the facility as soon as possible to reschedule or cancel. Contact information is available in the VA Facility Directory.
You may request an appointment on the application form when you apply; you do not need to wait until your enrollment is confirmed. When your application is processed at the medical center, an appointment will be scheduled for you, and you will receive notification in writing of your appointment and your eligibility for medical care. You may contact the Enrollment Coordinator at your local VA facility to check the status of your appointment.
Veterans who meet the following criteria receive priority access to care, and appointments will be scheduled within 30 days of the desired date.
- Veterans needs care of a service-connected disability or
- Veteran is 50 percent service-connected or higher and needs care for any condition
If the appointment cannot be scheduled within the 30-day timeframe, VA will arrange for you to be seen within 30 days at another VA health care facility or obtain the services on a fee basis, under a sharing agreement or contract at VA’s expense.
Transferring Your Care
If you want to transfer your care from one VA health care facility to another, contact the Enrollment Office for assistance in transferring your records and making an appointment at the new facility.
