The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is committed to informing the Veteran community about VA health benefits and services. Currently, VA is producing a new and improved personalized Veteran Health Benefits Handbook for Veterans who are enrolled in VA health care. Beginning in 2014, a new version of the handbook will be distributed to enrolled Veterans. The new handbooks are smaller in size but contain all of the information as in the larger version.
Like the previous handbooks, the new handbooks are tailored specific for each Veteran and provides detailed updated information about the VA health services the Veteran may be eligible to receive such as medications, prosthetics and dental care. The handbook also provides answers to common questions such as contact information for the Veteran's local facility, instructions on how to schedule appointments, the Affordable Care Act, guidelines for communicating treatment needs and an explanation of the Veteran's responsibilities, such as co-pays, if applicable.
Currently, the personalized handbook is available on www.eBenefits.va.gov and will soon be accessible on www.myhealth.va.gov. This will allow Veterans to access their up-to-date health benefit information anywhere, anytime.
Veterans enrolled in VA healthcare will soon receive their new and improved personalized handbook via mail as part of the second phase rollout. Since the handbook contains personal information, we ask that you appropriately destroy your old handbook by cutting it or shredding it.
The new handbooks will be mailed in Priority Group order, beginning with Priority Group 1 and ending with Priority Group 8. A schedule will be posted to this site so that you will know about when to expect your new handbook.
