Honoring Veterans by Providing World Class Customer Service

Who is the Health Resource Center? The Health Resource Center (HRC) is the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) national call center that provides customer service and support to Veterans, caregivers, other government agencies and the general public regarding VA health benefits, eligibility, and billing questions. Confused about a co-payment charge? Need assistance paying a bill? Require more information regarding eligibility for VA benefits? The professional staff of the Health Resource Center answers questions to topics like these and more every day. The toll-free phone number listed at the top of Veteran Patient Statements and HRC's national 1-877-222-VETS (8387) toll-free number connects callers to Health Resource Center Contact Representatives who can assist with a variety of inquiries. HRC aims to honor Veterans by providing World Class Customer Service. They do this through innovation, compassion, and persistence.

The Health Resource Center not only provides support for everyday healthcare-related questions, but also lends its quality customer service to a variety of interests within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The HRC Disaster Response Contact Center offers services in times of disaster for both Veterans and VA employees who are unable to contact their primary VA facility, or require additional assistance in times of wide-spread adversity. During Hurricane Sandy in Novemeber 2012, HRC quickly jumped into action to assist Veterans and VA employees from the affected area. HRC assisted with medication concerns, employee disaster guidance, and various other needs that local facilities were not able to provide due to power outages, building damage, and other storm related disruptions.

In collaboration with VA health care providers and pharmacists, HRC’s full time pharmacists and pharmacy staff assist Veterans and caregivers with pharmacy-related inquiries. This service allows health care providers and pharmacists the opportunity to better assist Veterans during in-person facility consultations without the added distraction of routine pharmacy questions or concerns.

The Health Resource Center has served as a national point of contact for the Department of Veterans Affairs in support of Veterans and related administrative initiatives since 2002. HRC Contact Representatives provide service to Veterans by way of telephone, email, secure messaging or web support. More than eight hundred HRC staff members directly or indirectly provide support for Veteran-related affairs including technical support for users of VA websites and applications.

Aside from the direct support to Veterans, the Health Resource Center provides payroll administration services to select Veterans Health Administration (VHA) organizations. HRC’s payroll department services approximately 6,000 VA employees and 17 stations including the Consolidated Mail Out Pharmacies (CMOPs), Health Eligibility Center (HEC), Consolidated Patient Account Centers (CPACs), Chief Business Office-Workforce Management (Human Resources), and the Health Resource Center.  Although the payroll staff is located in Topeka, Kansas they support VA employees in all 50 states.

The Health Resource Center continues to innovate and dedicate resources and knowledge to help Veterans navigate the ever-changing healthcare world. The HRC considers its role as Veteran supporter a significant component in honoring Servicemen and women.
