Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Program
| |

The philosophy of the Lebanon VA Medical Center with respect to our veterans who have served in the combat theaters of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom is to offer active and immediate assessment, diagnosis and treatment and to provide a continuum of care upon separation from active duty.
In 2002, the Veterans Health Administration mandated that each VA Medical Center develop a team to provide wounded soldiers with a “seamless transition” from Military Treatment Facilities to VA care.
| Eligibility: The Department of Veterans Affairs has promoted new eligibility rules that provide Active, National Guard and Reserve personnel who served in designated combat zones (since November 11, 1998) with five years of free care (for conditions related to military service) from the date of separation from active duty. |
| Cost of Services: You may be asked to pay a “co-pay” for treatment of conditions which are not related to your military service. |
| Active Duty and TRICARE: VA Medical Centers will work with the Department of Defense and TRICARE to treat active duty military personnel who are on medical hold or convalescent leave. |

Combat Stress
Even after returning from a theater of combat, stress can significantly interfere with a veteran’s ability to relate to family, friends and affects other areas of daily functioning. The lingering effects of stress can cause impatience, anger, sleep difficulties, increased sensitivity and awareness, “road rage”, anxiety/depression and emotional numbing.
The VA wants to provide appropriate and timely medical and behavioral health care to any eligible veteran. If you feel you may be experiencing any symptoms related to combat stress or sexual trauma, please contact us. You’re not “crazy”, you’re just having a normal response to an abnormal situation.
