FEDERAL HUMAN CAPITAL SURVEY

VETERANS AFFAIRS: 2011 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey Results Just  Released

The Veterans Affairs 2011 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) results are based on over 13,700 respondents (a 47% response rate). VA saw statistically significant improvement between 2010 and 2011 survey years on the following Federal Employee Viewpoint survey items:

  • Employees are recognized for providing high-quality products and services
  • Arbitrary action, personal favoritism and coercion for partisan political purposes are not tolerated
  • My supervisor supports my need to balance work and other life issues (agree or strongly agree)
  • Overall, how good a job do you feel is being done by your immediate supervisor/team leader?
  • Managers/supervisors/team leaders work well with employees of different backgrounds
  • Satisfaction with Alternative Work Schedules

VA employees did note small declines from 2010 to 2011 regarding:

  • I like the kind of work I do (although this item was still one of the most highly rated)
  • Satisfaction with Elder Care Programs

VA employees reported high, positive scores on employee satisfaction and workplace perceptions. When scores were lower, such as employee satisfaction with their performance ratings, pay, or promotion opportunities, VA employee scores corresponded to ratings reported in other federal agencies.
