FAIR Act Inventory
Public Law 105-270, the Federal Activities Inventory Reform Act of 1998 (FAIR Act), directs Federal agencies to submit an annual inventory of commercial activities being performed by Federal employees. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is providing the following information in accordance with guidance from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Inherently governmental activities, which are defined as work functions required to be performed by Federal employees, are not subject to the FAIR Act. However, VA reports on the number of employees aligned with activities that have been deemed to be commercial in nature, as well as those functions that are inherently governmental per OMB request.
Pursuant to OMB notification in the Federal Register; and in accordance with the requirements of the FAIR Act, the annual Inventory of Commercial Activities is made available to the general public.
The Department of Veterans Affairs completed its 2008 and 2009 FAIR Act Inventories and were submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval. The Inventories will be posted to this website once the Department has received OMB approval. Therefore, the 2007 Inventory is the most recent that can be made available.
