The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) sponsored the Veterans Business Opportunity Event held at the University of Houston Small Business Development Center in Houston, TX, where approximately 70 Veteran businesses participated in the Business Opportunity Event.
This event was a forum for Veteran business owners who were interested in increasing business opportunities in the Government and commercial marketplace. The event featured presentations on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA’s) Veterans’ First Program, franchising opportunities for Veterans, and various breakout sessions including starting and growing your business, growing your government sales, Texas Veteran entrepreneur programs, and VA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) Verification Assistance Program (VAP).
The event was sponsored by Wyle, a leading prime contractor of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). A business that specializes in high tech services for aerospace, life sciences and information systems.
The VAP team specialist Dana Jones, along with the University of Houston SBDC/PTAC counselor Robert (Bob) Warren, a VA Verification Counselor/partner, assisted Veterans interested in the VA Verification program and process.

VA and OSDBU continue to work diligently to provide education, information, and news updates for the Veteran small business owner community.
