Deployable Resources

The VHA OEM Logistics Program coordinates the delivery of needed assets and resources to support response operations and facilities affected by a disaster.  While some of these are "owned" by VHA OEM, most are the property of other VA organizations, thus requiring close cooperation and coordination. This list of assets available within VA is long, however a commonly-used disaster response support assets include:

Response Support Units (RSUs) Owned by VHA OEM; "command and control" vehicles
Mobile Housing Units Owned by VHA OEM
Hygiene Units Owned by VHA OEM
Mobile Pharmacy Units (MPUs) Owned by Pharmacy Benefits Service
Mobile Vet Centers (MVCs) Owned by VHA Resolution Counseling Service

Mobile Food Units
(MFUs)

Owned by Veterans Canteen Service
Mobile Clinics Various types; Owned by many VISNs and VA Medical Centers
Dual Use Vehicles
(DUVs)
Owned by VA Medical Centers; buses convertible to patient evacuation vehicles
Multi Use Vehicles
(MUVs)
Command & communications vehicles which can also evacuate patients, currently being developed by VHA OEM

 

VA facilities throughout the nation have fleets of vehicles such as buses, vans, para-transit vans, box trucks, pickup trucks, ambulances, fire trucks, trailers, decontamination trailers, backhoes, and many other vehicles that may be used if available in the event of an emergency.
