Allen Berkowitz, PhD

VISN 5 Strategic Planning Officer

Dr. Allen Berkowitz joined the VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5) as the Strategic Planning Officer in August 2007. Dr. Berkowitz is charged with coordinating and implementing VISN 5 strategic initiatives currently under development. Before coming to our Network, he was Acting Director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives in the VHA Office of Policy and Planning, where he was responsible for completing the CARES Business Plan Studies. Prior to coming to VA, he worked for the American Red Cross National Headquarters, with his last position as Director of Strategic Planning and Evaluation. Dr. Berkowitz earned MSE and PhD degrees in the field of Operations Research from Johns Hopkins University, and a BS degree in Mathematics from Brooklyn College, NY. He has received several awards for his work at the VA, including the Secretary's Group Award for Exceptional Accomplishments.
