Deputy Network Director

Jeffrey Kam, VISN 5 Deputy Network DirectorJeffery Kam became a member of the VA Capitol Health Care Network staff in April 2000 as a Health System Specialist and was appointed to Deputy Network Director in June 2006. Mr. Kam's major responsibilities within this role are accountability for the network's management of finance, logistics, and capital asset services and alignment of these functions and practices to the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) policy and direction. Mr. Kam also develops strong effective working relationships with the Executive Leadership Teams at each of the VISN 5 medical centers improving effectiveness that will fortify Network relationships and efficiency.

Before coming to VISN 5, Mr. Kam served as the VA Maryland Health Care System Administrative Assistant to the Associate Director for Operations. He has also served as the Assistant Regional Planner and then as Regional Planner for the Eastern Region prior to the creation of the Veteran Intergrated Service Networks. His total VA career spans over 22 years, however, he worked in the health care field for over 29 years.

Mr. Kam began his health care career as a Registered Health Information Administrator with a Peer Review Organization that monitored Medicare and Medicaid service delivery. He joined the VA as an Assistant Chief, Health Information Management and quickly was promoted to Chief, Health Information Management. He subsequently served as an Assistant Chief, Medical Administration Service before moving on to the Eastern Region.

Mr. Kam earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and has a Certificate in Health Records Administration from the US Public Health Service. During his VA career, he has received a number of commendations, awards and letters of appreciation from various officials, including the former VA Secretary, Jesse Brown.
