Guy B. Richardson, MHSA, FACHE

Deputy Network Director

Guy Richardson Guy B. Richardson was appointed Deputy Network Director for VISN 5 on September 25, 2011.

Mr. Richardson earned a Master's Degree in Health Service Administration from the George Washington University and has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Morehouse College. He is a graduate of the Federal Health Care Executives Institute, Class of September 2009, the VA Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program, Class of 2004, the Veterans Health Administration Health Care Leadership Institute, Class of 2001, and Leadership VA, Class of 1997. He has served as a VA Executive Career Field Candidate Mentor, Preceptor, and VHA Health Care Leadership Institute Executive Coach for participants. Mr. Richardson is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and currently serves as the ACHE VA Regent representing VA ACHE members nationally. He is a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE).

Mr. Richardson is a certified mediator for workplace disputes and certified VHA mentor at the Fellow level. He received the 2011 Cardinal Bernardin Community Service Award, 2009 Parity Inc. "Top 10 African American Men Award," 2008 VA ACHE Eastern Region Senior-Level Leadership Award, and a 2001 Achievement Award from the Cecil County, Maryland, Branch of the NAACP.

Mr. Richardson's VA career spans over 27 years. Previously, he was the Chief Executive Officer for the Dayton, Ohio VA Medical Center. He was Associate Director for Finance for the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) overseeing a $345 million budget and its business operations. He began his career with the VA as an Administrative Resident at the Long Beach, CA, VAMC and has served in various progressively higher level positions of responsibility.
