The VA Building Utilization Review and Repurposing (BURR) initiative has identified two parcels of vacant land for a long-term ground lease at the Danville Campus of the VA Illiana Health Care System of the Veterans In Partnership Healthcare Network (VISN 11) in Danville, Illinois: VA is soliciting qualified developers to submit proposals to finance, design, develop, construct, equip, furnish and maintain a new permanent supportive housing project for homeless Veterans and Veterans at risk of homelessness and their families, on a priority basis.
The potential EUL site contains the following parcels of underutilized land:
- one parcel (B2) is approximately 15 acres and accessible via campus connecting roads that lead from East Main Street
- one parcel (D) is approximately five (5) acres accessible via Vine Street to the South
The Danville Campus is a full-service hospital providing a full range of patient care services to Veterans primarily residing in central Illinois and west central Indiana, as well as education and research. The hospital with an inpatient capacity of 223 authorized beds including 191 nursing home beds throughout the facility accommodates thousands of patients and provides comprehensive health care in acute and sub-acute Internal Medicine, Surgery and Psychiatry. A Community Living Center provides a skilled care environment with special focus on rehabilitation, dementia and Alzheimer’s care, gero-psychiatric care, palliative care and extended care. A full cadre of ambulatory care services is offered including primary care, ambulatory surgery, mental health, substance abuse and specialty care. In addition to services offered on the Danville Campus, the VA Illiana Health Care System offers a number of services through five community-based outpatient clinics.
The Danville Campus is located in eastern Illinois in the City of Danville within VA’s VISN 11 Central market. Approximately six miles west of the Indiana state line, Danville is approximately 90 miles from Indianapolis, IN.

- In an ongoing effort to eliminate homelessness among Veterans and their families, VA is proceeding with an agreement with a third-party provider to provide 65 permanent units of housing.
