The
Center for Health Quality, Outcomes, and Economics Research was established in
1990 as a multidisciplinary health services research center, based at the Edith
Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, Bedford, Massachusetts. CHQOER is also
an integral part of the Department of Health Services at the Boston University
School of Public Health.
CHQOER
investigators have access to a wide range of databases, including the rich
clinical and administrative databases of the national VA health care system, and
other resources that may be used in research projects. We emphasize
multidisciplinary collaboration and the creative combination of diverse research
methods. The large, diverse faculty of CHQOER includes research professionals
representing the disciplines of medicine, nursing, dentistry, sociology,
psychology, epidemiology, and statistics.
The Center's three research priority areas are:
patient-centered care, medication effectiveness, and patient safety.
Across these domains, researchers develop innovative methodologies and models of
care to provide the most effective, efficient and appropriate care to our
nation's veterans.
