Message from ACOS/R&D

As the Associate Chief of Staff for Research & Development (ACOS/R&D) at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital (HSTMVH), I am happy to welcome you to the VA Research Service website. I am most proud of the excellent research that is being conducted at our facility, and I am confident that you too will be impressed with the quality of the investigators and the commitment to scientific excellence that you will observe in our setting.

The Mission Statement for the VA Research Program is "to facilitate health-related, state-of-the-science research in the context of applicable regulations and ethical guidelines." In this regard, you will observe that our core values relate to careful attention to human research protections, animal care and welfare, biohazards/safety, security, and fiscal integrity.

All Research employees are expected to proceed in careful, thoughtful ways regarding their work and to demonstrate keen attention to all applicable regulations and guidelines. Our culture is one of Continuous Performance Improvement, so all Research employees are expected to bring any observed safety, security, or other opportunities for improvement to the attention of the Research Office. Our goal is excellence in all arenas.
