“A Foundation Established to Advance VA Research and Education"
The Metropolitan Detroit Research and Education Foundation (MDREF) is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to facilitate research and education projects for the staff of the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center (JDVAMC). MDREF has partnered with the JDVAMC to develop a diverse research portfolio dedicated to investigating a variety of ailments afflicting the nation's veterans. MDREF plays a crucial role in supporting VA physicians and researchers as they endeavor to understand how, why and when diseases afflict the human system. Our clinical research center and administrative office provide helpful, efficient, highly trained staff to support these efforts.
Our goal is to aid in the advancement of research and also, education of staff and patients at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. This is accomplished through educational activities designed to increase the breadth of knowledge used to facilitate patient care.
MDREF was incorporated in the State of Michigan in November, 1992 and is a 501 C(3) tax exempt corporation. Although MDREF is a private corporation, it is subject to certain forms of federal oversight (38 U.S.C. 7361, 7362).
