About this Facility

The Oklahoma City VAMC consists of a 192-operating bed VHA facility located in Central Oklahoma serving forty-eight Oklahoma Counties and two counties in North Central Texas (Wilbarger and Wichita) with a veteran population of over 225,000. The Oklahoma City VAMC also includes Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Lawton, Ardmore, Stillwater, Altus, Ada, Enid, Blackwell, Oklahoma and Wichita Falls, Texas.   The Oklahoma City VAMC also has an annex clinic in north Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City VAMC is a tertiary care facility, classified as a Clinical Referral Level III facility (VA complexity level rating of 1b). The Oklahoma City VAMC is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. The Oklahoma City VAMC is a part of VA Network 16, which includes facilities in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.   Specialized Programs: The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center has specialized programs including Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM), Reaching Out to Educate and Assist Health Care Families (REACH), Homeless Program / Compensated Work Therapy, regional referral center for Open-Heart surgery, Telehealth Care Coordination, Center for Alzheimer and Neurodegenerative Diseases (Cando), Animal Assisted Therapy and a High Risk Foot Program.   Community-Based Outpatient Clinics In addition to our main facility in Oklahoma City, we offer services in community-based outpatient clinics. Academic Partners

As a teaching hospital, Oklahoma City VAMC provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research.

Affiliations: The Oklahoma City VAMC has active affiliations with the University of Oklahoma Medical School. The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center is connected both physically and functionally to the University.  Over 300 University residents, interns, and students are trained at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center each year.  There are also nursing student affiliations as well as affiliations involving dentistry, pharmacy, social work, Department of Radiologic Technology, audiology and speech pathology and psychology with the University of Oklahoma. Clinical experiences are provided through affiliation agreements with more than 15 state, community, and private institutions, including Metro Tech, Oklahoma City Community College, Rose State College, Oklahoma State University Technical Branch, the University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Langston, and several out of state universities.  Through these programs, the Oklahoma City VAMC makes a significant contribution to both the development of qualified health professionals and the economic growth of the state.  The facilities and programs available through the VAMC enable the colleges of the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center to provide many of the needed clinical experiences for students enrolled in their programs.  Through sharing agreements there is collaboration in the areas of Radiation Therapy, Professional Radiology Services, Sleep Lab, and Electron Microscopy.
