Complaints Prevention

To reduce discrimination complaints, DM&EEO encourages executives, managers, and supervisors to study the effects of personnel policies and practices by conducting workforce analyses.  Through workforce analysis, managers can identify areas where personnel policies or practices may be having undesirable effects.  Executives, managers, and supervisors may also review the status of minorities, women, and people with disabilities in their workforce, with respect to hiring, promotion, training, retention, and attrition.  This type of analysis can help assess whether employment policies and practices are effective in creating a climate of genuine equal opportunity for all employees or are resulting in a climate of discrimination.  To assist VA Administrations and Offices, DM&EEO has developed A Guide to Conducting Workforce Analysis.  Members of DM&EEO's Workforce Analysis and Evaluation team are available to assist in conducting workforce analyses to identify potential barriers to achieving a diverse workforce.
