EEO Manager
Wanda J. Jones joined the Office of Diversity Management and Equal Employment Opportunity (DM&EEO) in February 1998 as an EEO specialist and now serves as the team leader for VA’s EEO audit program. In addition, she is the national program manager for the Black special emphasis and Federal women’s programs. As the team leader for VA’s EEO audit program, she is responsible for ensuring that VA is in compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Management Directive 715. As the national program manager, she focuses on advancement and career opportunities for Blacks and women in the Department.
She is a member of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) Interagency Social and Human Cluster, the Federal Women's Program Interagency Council, Blacks In Government (BIG), and the African American Federal Executives Association. Prior to working in DM&EEO, she served as an EEO counselor. Ms. Jones has facilitated numerous training programs on diversity and EEO at BIG and Federally Employed Women’s national training conferences. She is also responsible for implementing the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education and Federally Employed Women’s partnership agreements with VA. Under her direction, the African American Medal of Honor exhibit was created, which is used by facilities and veterans organizations across the nation.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Ms. Jones began her VA career in 1974 as a temporary "700 Hour" clerk at the Buffalo Regional Office. In 1985, she transferred to the VA medical center in Washington, D.C., where she worked in the director's office. In 1987, she transferred to VA headquarters to work in the Central Office Personnel Service. She also served in the Office of Congressional Affairs. On July 1, 2008, Ms. Jones was awarded the credential of Cornell Certified Diversity Professional (CCDP) from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She is a 1994 graduate of the Women's Executive Leadership Program. In addition to the above, Ms. Jones served as a member of the Secretary's task force on the employment and advancement of women in VA.
