Michael Bowen

Photo of Michael BowenMike Bowen joined the Office of Construction & Facilities Management (CFM) on May 16, 1993.

He currently serves as Executive Assistant and as a principal advisor to the Director, CFM and other senior staff on a broad range of policy, planning and organizational activities relating to VA's capital facilities programs.

Mr. Bowen joined the Veterans Administration in 1977 as a management analyst in the Office of Planning and Evaluation. He progressed in that office to the position of Senior Project Director, in the Program Evaluation Service. In 1982, Mike transferred to the Department of Medicine and Surgery, Management Support Office as Chief, Organization Management Staff. In 1990, he was appointed Executive Assistant to the Associate Chief Medical Director for Administration, Veterans Health Administration, where he provided advice on a wide array of VHA programs including: human resource management, medical administration, information technology, health care recruitment and retention, and medical care cost recovery.

Mr. Bowen received a B.A. in History from the University of Richmond in 1970, and a Masters in Hospital Administration (concentration Long-Term Care) from The George Washington University in 1977. He served as a Signal Corps Officer in the U.S. Army from 1971-3.

Mr. Bowen is a 1998 graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.

Mike is active in several local charities and in past President of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF) and a Charter Member of the Capitol Chapter JDF. Hobbies include traveling, fishing, bicycling, and reading.
