Kurt D. Knight serves as Chief, Facilities Quality Service in the Office of Construction & Facilities Management (CFM) since Jan 1999. Facilities Quality Service provides leadership in establishing and promoting high levels of performance and life-cycle quality of VA's facilities. VA national facility quality and performance standards are developed and distributed by this Service. Products include Master Specifications, Design Manuals, Deign Guides and Design Alerts. The Service also develops and updates national physical security, hurricane, seismic, energy performance, and sustainable standards for VA facilities. Also provides consultant support services for Barrier-Free Design, State Home Grants, and Homeless Providers Grants programs. This office also developed and regularly updates and maintains VA's extremely popular, Internet Based, Design and Construction Standards Distribution Portal (Technical Information Library-TIL).

Mr. Knight previously served as Associate Director of the Consulting Support Office of CFM. This office provides a wide range of technical services to support the VAMCs, NCS, VBA and other staff offices. Mr. Knight provided leadership and direction for the formation and management of support teams providing direct technical support to VA field facilities. Consulting Support Office won the VA's Scissors Award and VHA Customer Service Award for reinventing and maintaining high quality technical support, by providing rapid, customer-focused, service-oriented consultation to VAMCs and other field based VA programs.

He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Maryland and registered Professional Engineer.
