Boiler Flame Safeguard Control Systems
These systems are present on all VA boilers and provide the burner
starting and safety control functions. They are normally "Fireye"
or "Honeywell" make. Current versions are all solid state and include
microprocessors.
VA Master Specifications require that these controls be UL-listed
and FM-approved (Factory Mutual). This requirement is an industry
standard and is necessary because of the potential for life-threatening
and property-damaging accidents with boilers and burners.
It is understood that there are rebuilt flame safeguard controls
available and that these controls do not have the UL and FM listing
and approval. Because of this lack of listing and approval, it is
recommended that rebuilt flame safeguard controls not be utilized.
