About VPS

Veterans Point of Service (VPS) is a Veterans Health Administration (VHA) initiative that provides Veterans with convenient control of their own health information, while streamlining and standardizing basic patient-facing activities at VA Medical Centers nationwide.

Whats New with VetLink Kiosks?

About VetLink

VetLink kiosks are touch-screen devices that allow Veterans to perform tasks like check-in for appointments, review insurance details, and apply for beneficiary travel Vet Link Logoreimbursement (soon!) among other features. VetLink kiosks are available in a number of form factors: Freestanding, Desk Top, Wall Mount, and Mobile.

VetLinks are touch-screen devices that allow patients to perform tasks such as checking in for appointments, validating information, and reviewing/ updating insurance information VetLink software allows system administrators to track usage, update content and software, and receive alerts about any technical issues. Within the healthcare industry, kiosk-like devices are becoming more useful to perform efficient business and patient management functions.

With VetLink kiosks, Veterans can:

  • Check-in electronically for pre-scheduled appointments
  • View future appointments
  • Manage personal health and insurance information
  • More discreetly provide information they may view as sensitive, such as age or race/ethnicity
  • Spend less time standing in lines through the automation of administrative, business and/or clinical tasks (i.e., patient queuing)
  • Apply for my beneficiary travel mileage reimbursement – coming soon!
  • Manage their account balance – coming soon!
  • Review and reconcile medication and allergy information for wellness and safety – coming soon!

Using VetLink Kiosks:

  • Reduces check-in wait time for Veterans
  • Empowers Veteran to maintain accurate personal health account information (e.g., address/insurance)
  • Provides more flexibility and efficiency for VA staff as they serve Veterans
  • Increases seamless communication between the front desk and back offices of the clinics
  • Allows VA staff time to perform additional Veteran-related tasks
  • Can automate certain administrative processes, such as generating and forms (e.g., bene travel), wristbands and labels (e.g., labs) – coming soon!

Get Familiar with Kiosk: 6 Simple Steps for Checking-In

  1. Select the "Check-in for Appointment" option.
  2. Swipe your Veterans Identification Card (VIC) through the card reader or use the bar code scanner. Forget your VIC? You can also enter your social security number.
  3. Enter your date of birth and verify your identity.
  4. Update your address, phone number, and personal information using the touchscreen keypad.
  5. Confirm your appointment.

In many facilities, VetLink Navigators (staff and/or volunteers) are available to assist you in these steps and to offer any guidance needed with VetLink.
