Dr. Whitham completed her residency at Oregon Health and Science University.  While completing her residency, she encountered many young individuals with MS.  Dr. Whitham related to the youth of these individuals and saw the many challenges they faced.  She saw a need for an increased understanding on MS and an increased level of research into the disease.  Dr. Whitham was receiving training from several MS researchers within her residency and upon completion; she continued her studies as a postdoctoral fellow in Neuroimmunology.  She has been working with MS for over 25 years and provides mentorship in the field of MS at the Portland VAMC and OHSU.  She encourages her patients to learn as much as they can about MS, and continue their learning as new information is found, and keep a positive outlook on life, enjoying the company of family and friends.
