What is Multiple Sclerosis?
Dr. Jodie Haselkorn describes the characteristics of MS. MS is an immune-mediated disease characterized by demyelinating lesions and Axonal loss. It is a progressive disease and currently there is no cure. MS has two subtypes, relapsing remitting (affecting 85% of people with MS) and secondary progressive. DMTs are effective for people with relapsing remitting MS. Dr. Dennis Bourdette talks about the risks of for developing MS, which are influenced by genes and environmental factors. (5 minutes)
