Welcome to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Environmental Affairs - Greening VA Web site. This site is an initiative of the Office of Asset Enterprise Management (OAEM) Environmental Affairs Program.  In fulfilling VA's commitment to care for our Nation's veterans and their families, we also strive to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for current and future generations.

By providing policy, guidance, training, outreach, and opportunities for national recognition, OAEM helps VA's workforce of more than 200,000 employees to be good stewards of the environment.  OAEM promotes VA's commitment to the environment through programs directed at preventing pollution; reducing waste, including through reuse and recycling; purchasing environmentally preferable products and services; conserving natural and cultural resources; and integrating environmental considerations into day-to-day operations and long-term planning processes. OAEM also works collaboratively with other VA organizations and Federal agencies to ensure Departmental compliance with applicable environmental requirements.
