Summary

Summary
The VA Office of Inspector General conducted a review to evaluate selected health care facility operations, focusing on patient care quality and the environment of care. During the review, OIG provided crime awareness briefings to 369 employees. This review focused on seven operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following two activities (1) acute ischemic stroke care and (2) community living center resident independence and dignity. The facility’s reported accomplishments were the Culinary Arts Program, which aims to provide state of the art professional kitchen training to veterans, and the Veterans and Community Health Sunday Magazine Radio Show, which provides round table discussions on health care issues. OIG made recommendations for improvement in the following five activities: (1) quality management, (2) environment of care, (3) medication management, (4) coordination of care, and (5) magnetic resonance imaging safety.
