Summary

Summary
The VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) conducted a review to evaluate selected health care facility operations, focusing on patient care quality and the environment of care. During the review, OIG provided crime awareness briefings to 35 employees. This review focused on eight operational activities and three follow-up review areas from the previous Combined Assessment Program review. The facility’s reported accomplishment was receiving the VA National Center for Patient Safety’s Gold Cornerstone Award for fiscal year 2015. OIG made recommendations for improvement in the following 11 activities, which includes the follow-up review areas: (1) quality, safety, and value; (2) environment of care; (3) medication management; (4) coordination of care; (5) computed tomography radiation monitoring; (6) advance directives; (7) suicide prevention program; (8) mammography services; (9) follow-up on medication management – controlled substances inspection program; (10) follow-up on pressure ulcer prevention and management; and (11) follow-up on nurse staffing.
