The Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Technical Reference Model (TRM) provides a common classification scheme (or taxonomy) for identifying like, technical elements across the various Federal Agency and department Enterprise Architectures.  The FEA-TRM allows a system developer or project architect to identify similar or identical technical architecture and infrastructure elements across all Federal Departments and Agencies without regard to any specific Department or Agency classification scheme.

The FEA-TRM also supports identification of common technical "Patterns" or sharable technical solution specifications, across the federal government.
