IPv6 Addendum
The Federal Government's transition to IPv6 networking is being coordinated at an inter-Department level, under the auspices of OMB and the CIO Council. As a result, each Department must elevate the visibility of its IPV6 transition effort in order to facilitate this oversight, to promote inter-Department coordination and cooperation, and to disseminate lessons learned.
VA's IPv6 Planning is being developed on two levels:
- The Enterprise Strategy Working Group is responsible for developing an IPV6 Implementation Plan which is integrated with the One-VA Enterprise Architecture; and
- The Transition Planning Working Group is responsible developing and coordinating the Transition Plan for implementing IPv6 (which includes identifying detailed requirements and producing the IPv6 planning deliverables required by OMB).
The Office of Enterprise Architecture Management (OEAM) works with these planning bodies and provides EA guidance to the IPv6 effort. OEAM also includes the working group's deliverables, within this IPv6 Addendum section of the Target Architecture, in order to simplify both the EA evaluation and the IPv6 Transition Project's evaluation by OMB. The following deliverables are currently available:
