Benefits Architecture Segment (Proposed)

The Benefits Architecture Segment has been proposed, and if approved, will be developed for EA V4.2, in FY-2008

Segment Name

VA-Benefits Segment Architecture

Segment Type

The VA-Benefits Segment is a Core-Business Segment

Segment Scope

Segment Description

This is a Core-Business Segment that supports the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) benefits business lines and the IT development methodology established by the VBA.  As VBA's obsolete, legacy business systems are redesigned and re-deployed over the next few years, this segment architecture will identify common services which will be developed once and then reused across all benefits business lines.  These common services may include claim submission and processing, claim payment, and appeal submission and processing.

This segment architecture will also integrate with the VA Identity Services segment architecture to obtain veteran and other client identity, registration, and service history information from a VA-wide single-source.
