VA’s Relationship with CAP

In 2001 the Department of Veterans Affairs signed an agreement with the Department of Defense (DOD) Computer/electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) to provide “reasonable accommodations” to disabled VA personnel under Section 504 of the Rehab Act of 1973 as Amended.

In addition the CAP office provides needs assessments and training on the adaptive equipment provided to the disabled individual. All of this is at no cost to the VA or person with a disability. Presently DOD’s CAP office has 74 partners throughout the federal government.
