“Honoring our sacred trust with our Veterans means doing all we can to help them find work when they come home.  On behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs, I would like to sincerely thank the members of the House and Senate for working together to support Veteran hiring and small businesses. The passage of the Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior tax credits is just one more example of President Obama’s leadership and unwavering support of Veterans, and an important step in the President’s overall economic effort to create jobs. The Nation could not ask for a stronger advocate for Veterans and Servicemembers than President Obama.

“The Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior tax credits will put more Veterans back to work by encouraging businesses to hire them, and send a message that a grateful Nation honors their service and sacrifice and wants to welcome them all the way home. This legislation also improves Servicemembers’ transition to civilian life and employment by expanding education and job training programs that will help them translate their military skills into high-demand sectors of our economy.

“When employers hire Veterans, they add exceptional employees with character, courage, creativity, team-building skills, and discipline that will help their businesses grow and succeed. More than ever, America needs Veterans’ proven skills, knowledge, and work ethic to fire up our economic engine and to invest in our future.”
