A Message from VA Chief of Staff John Gingrich regarding the closure of 810 Vermont Ave, on December 21st

The Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office at 810 Vermont Ave only is closed Friday, December 21, 2012. The water is currently shut down throughout the building to allow for repair of a water drain.

Employees scheduled to be on duty at the time of this notice are granted excused/Administrative Absence (AA) for the number of hours they were scheduled to work today.

Employees excused from duty (or on approved leave) at the time of this notice will remain on leave for the time granted.

Employees scheduled to telework today, must telework or request leave for the day.

Employees scheduled for an alternate work day today, will not be entitled to an additional "in lieu of day" and may not be granted an excused absence for the scheduled non-work day.

Employees will be kept apprised of the building status throughout the weekend. Employees are encouraged to periodically check on the building status by calling (202) 461-0048.

For VA employees outside of the NCR and not working at 810 Vermont Ave, you may obtain updates on VA facilities and report your status at http://www.va.gov/emergency/ under "Employee Emergency Information" or dial (866) 233-0152.

This message pertains only to employees with physical duty at 810 Vermont Ave, Washington DC.

Also, wish all of you a most magnificent holiday season.
