Community Nursing Home Program
- Designed to place veterans in nursing homes with
the goal of providing quality care in a community. A social worker monitors care
by monthly visits.
Community Residential Care Program
- Community-based placement for veterans unable to
live independently or who are without family resources.
Community Support Program
- Intensive psychiatric community care providing case
management and outpatient treatment for veterans with a history of high hospital
utilization.
Compensated Work Therapy Program
- Outpatient paid work rehabilitation for veterans,
with the goal of improving job skills and habits for employment-ready placement
into private industry.
Day Treatment Center Programs
- Day Treatment Program: Outpatient therapeutic
treatment for veterans who require clinical assistance on a daily basis, but not
hospitalization.
Dental Clinic - Inpatient and outpatient emergency and
comprehensive dental treatment for veterans, in a state of the art facility
utilizing current infection control methods.
Relationship Improvement Skills Clinic (Domestic
Relations) - Group and individual treatment for veterans
experiencing problems in interpersonal relationships.
Domiciliary Program - Structured treatment and vocational rehabilitation
for homeless veterans, in a group residential setting.
Center for the Evaluation of Former Prisoners of War
- Specialized medical and psychiatric outpatient care
for former prisoners of war.
Geropsychiatric Evaluation and Treatment Program
- Inpatient and outpatient care to evaluate and treat
veterans age sixty-five or older.
Home Health Nursing Program
- Periodic home visits by a registered nurse to
selected veterans who are managing their health care within the community.
Incentive Therapy Program
- Inpatient paid work therapy on Medical Center
grounds; designed to improve self-esteem and enhance veterans' social skills.
Behavioral Health Clinics
- Outpatient treatment for veterans and their
families provided by a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and
nurses.
Neurobehavioral Unit/Program
- Specialized care for veterans with brain disease or
injury who experience cognitive, behavioral, or psychiatric difficulties.
Opioid Substitution Therapy Clinic
- The OST Clinic offers Laam and Methadone
maintenance management to veterans with opiate addictions.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Comprehensive inpatient and outpatient
rehabilitative therapy to improve functioning, independence, and quality of life
for the veteran.
Post-Traumatic Stress Program
- Specialized screening, assessment, and treatment
for veterans suffering from stress related to a threatening life event.
Schizophrenia Research and Treatment Unit
- Inpatient care designed to evaluate, study, and
treat veterans with schizophrenia.
Senior Substance Abuse Clinic
- Specialized substance abuse consultation,
education, and treatment for veterans, and their families, age fifty years or
older.
Sleep Evaluation Center -
Inpatient and outpatient care for the study and
evaluation of sleep disorders. Telephone liaison service available for sleep
disorder questions.
Substance Use Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinic
- Outpatient treatment clinic and community outreach
for veterans (and their families) who are in recovery from both chemical
dependency and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Veterans Outreach Centers
- Community-based Vet Centers offer a broad range of
cost-free counseling, outreach and referral services, and information on
benefits for combat veterans. Locations in downtown Pittsburgh, PA, McKeesport,
PA, and Wheeling, WV.
Women Veterans Health Program
- Health care, education, and benefits to assist
women veterans specifically.
