Medical
science and the field of healthcare are ever changing. As such nurses are
required to constantly increase knowledge and develop new skills in order to
meet the ever more complex needs of patients and the healthcare infrastructure
in which they work. The role of the Nursing Education Council is the enhancement
of nursing skills and knowledge through the promotion and facilitation of
educational opportunities. Membership is open to all nurses from every
discipline and every level. The Nursing Education Council works closely with
Medical Center Education to disseminate information on educational program and
funding opportunities for nurses. Nursing Education Council reports to the
Nursing Executive Leadership Council on the development and implementation of
programs to enhance performance, clinical outcomes and career development of
recommendations of staff nurses, nursing managers, nurse leaders, and VA
mandates.
