Contracts have been awarded for
the "Early Site Infrastructure" project at the H.J.
Heinz III Progressive Care Center in O'Hara
Township. The estimated $5 million project, part of
the Heinz Division of Veterans Administration
Pittsburgh Healthcare System, will provide
underground utility, central plant upgrades, storm
water management, roadway and parking changes needed
to support all the new buildings. Plans call for
construction of about 68,000 square feet of
residential in seven free-standing buildings and
84,000 square feet of office/administrative space.
The $4 million support services building, started in
June, is expected to be completed in June 2007.
Overall, the $200 million project will include more
than 500,000 square feet of building space, plus a
1,500-space parking structure.
