Pittsburgh, the University Drive Division is the major medical and
surgical care facility of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System,

Located in Pittsburgh's Oakland district, University Drive has been
designated as a National Liver and Renal Transplant Center;
Regional Cardiac Surgery Center; Oncology Network Center; Geriatric
Research Education and Clinical Center of Excellence; and is
National Centers of Excellence in Renal Dialysis and Women's Veterans
Programs. Committed to staying on the cutting edge of medical technology,
VA Pittsburgh recently installed a second state of the art Cardiac
Catherization Laboratory ... implemented the latest version
of the Automated Clinical Record System - the Bar Code Medical
Administration Program ... as well as other Information Technology
upgrades to provide fast, accurate care.

University Drive's spectacular new 108-Bed Tower offers patients

The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System was recently approved for funding
to become a Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion. VA Pittsburgh
has also earned the distinction of being the only VA Healthcare System
in the country awarded all four Research Centers of Excellence.

As the industry moves away from inpatient-based services toward outpatient
focused care, the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is striving to make
quality care accessible and convenient for the veterans who so richly deserve it.

In addition to the University Drive facility, VA Pittsburgh is comprised
of two other divisions near downtown Pittsburgh.

The H. John Heinz the Third Progressive Care Center in O'Hara Township
is a Geriatric Center of Excellence, providing Nursing Home Care,
Adult Day Health Care, Primary Care, and Hospice Care.

Located near the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh, the Highland Drive
Division serves as the Neuropsychiatric Care Center for veterans
of Western Pennsylvania, and is home to Rehabilitation Research
and Development as well as Mental Illness Research and Education.

Extending service throughout the region, VA Pittsburgh operates
Primary Care Centers in Greensburg, Aliquippa, and Washington,
Pennsylvania and St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Providing on-the-spot care for older veterans who may find it
difficult to access healthcare at other points in the system,
the Mobile Geriatric Unit offers a fully equipped Exam Room,
Patient Education Room, Basic Blood Work Capability, and
is wheelchair accessible.

VA Pittsburgh is also increasing the number of veterans seen
at local health fairs ... as well as the number of patients treated
from VA Spoke Hospitals in Butler, Altoona, Clarksburg, and Erie.
