The systems at the Richmond/ Beckley site in VISN 6 and the Milwaukee / Iron Mountain site in VISN 12 VAMCs consist of the Apollo Telepathology System which uses the Corabi International Telemetrics Software package can be run with part of a T1 telecommunications line (512K) or two ISDN lines per site.

The software provided by Apollo has a WIMS component that is interactive with windows.

The system has the following features:

• Fully automated remote control robotic stage and image focusing systems
• Gross imaging to study large pathologic specimens, an essential tool for the Beckley operation.
• Images are organized by patient.
• It has a graphical interface
• It has a standard JPEG compression for image telecommunication.
• Automatic linking
• Single or Batch image transfer with unattended image-receipt features.
• High image resolution.
