VANTHCS Launches Medical Foster Home Program

The Medical Foster Home Program (MFH)  offers an alternative to veterans who are becoming more dependent due to chronic or terminal illness, have limited family support and prefer a community family setting for their long term care.

The program is designed for individuals who can no longer live alone because of physical or mental impairments or disabilities. MFH involves VA staff, the veteran, the veteran's family and caregivers in the community to offer a safe, supervised, family environment for veterans.

VA programs which oversee veterans enrolled in MFH include Spinal Cord Injury-Home Care, and Home-Based Primary Care.

Contact Cathy Cooley, LMSW, Medical Foster Home Program Coordinator, at 214-857-2674 for additional information.
