Eye and Vision Care in VHA
VHA provides a wide range of quality eye and vision care services
to meet the needs of the veteran population. VATAP produced
three systematic reviews to assist policy makers on provision
of vision care services in VHA.
Visual Field Testing in VA Compensation and Pension Examinations
(March, 2003). Compares the performance of Goldmann and
Humphrey perimeters used by the Veterans Benefits Administration
in evaluating visual disability and handicap.
Optical Devices for Adults with Low Vision: A Systematic
Review of Published Studies of Effectiveness (May 2003).
Identifies the evidence of effectiveness of a wide range of
optical low vision aids to assist in evidence-based data collection
and clinical decision-making in VA.
Optical Lens Fabrication System (February 2000).
Evaluates the costs, quality and other benefits of the Q-2100TM,
an in-house lens fabrication system used to provide high quality
eyewear to veterans.
