Purpose, Policy, and Mission of the BHL
Purpose of the BHL
- The BHL serves to provide a clinical tool for primary care clinicians to:
- Triage patients into the appropriate level of care ranging from monitoring services and earlier interventions to specialty care.
- Provide a clinical assessment to assist in treatment planning.
- Provide ongoing interaction/integration between primary care and behavioral health.
- Provide monitoring of symptoms or follow-up assessments.
Policy and Mission of the BHL
- The BHL ensures easily available service to all clinicians in the system.
- The BHL makes certain that all referred patients are assessed in a timely manner.
- The BHL commits to reporting the outcome of assessment to PCCs in a timely manner.
- The BHL reports recommendations of treatment to PCCs according to assessment and/or contact with patients.
- The BHL encourages patient compliance with available mental health care.
- The BHL places patients in an appropriate and acceptable method of treatment according to their mental health needs.
- The BHL acts as a source of support and knowledge for the PCCs in regard to mental health issues.
